Funded by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) under the Safe Abortion Action Fund (SAAF), this two-year project (2022-2024) aims to enhance the Reproductive Maternal Health Consortium-Kenya’s (RMHC-K) advocacy capabilities. The project’s goals include:
- Advocacy for SRHR Policies: Strengthening RMHC-K’s capacity to advocate for the development of suitable Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) policies, standards, and guidelines in Kenya.
- Validating Clinical Guidelines: Assisting the Ministry of Health (MoH) in validating the BIG 5 clinical guidelines.
- Health Systems Strengthening: Supporting the MoH to strengthen Post-Abortion Care (PAC) health systems across 10 counties in Kenya.
Notable achievements of this project have included collaborating with the MoH to develop ministry guidelines on managing direct causes of maternal mortality in Kenya and national reproductive health self-care guidelines. The project has also influenced the inclusion of vital drugs, such as misoprostol and mifepristone, for the management of bleeding in pregnancy and postpartum hemorrhage.
